But will they succeed? You must read on to find out!

Sky yawned as he woke up. He stretched and smiled a happy cat smile. Today they would be leaving to defeat FangClan!  He leaped through the door and began washing himself while he waited.

"Today will be so fun!" Sky said aloud. "Now that you mention it, it will be fun," said Ferncloud coolly from behind him. "What'd you mean, fun?! It'll be dangerous! I'm frightened!" squeaked Heatherpaw. "Who says a shiver down your spine isn't delicious?" mewed Crowfeather. "Me!" replied Heatherpaw.

"Actually, Heatherpaw's right, you know," nodded Goldenflower in agreement. "It will be dangerous."

Finally, Foxclaw appeared. He looked tired and weary. "We can't go. Firestar's got *greencough." Greencough! Firestar! "Let's go see him. Maybe Goldenflower will know what to do."

When they arrived at Firestar's house, Goldenflower said, "Fetch some catmint. We must hurry. He could lose another life!" When Firestar was back in ThunderClan, he had been given nine lives. If he lost this one, he would only have two left.

When Firestar had had catmint, Sky padded to the stream. He knew his friend would recover. He just wasn't sure if the ginger tom would lose another life.

                                                              ~*Chapter Two*~

Two days later, they set off. Firestar had lost another life, so they had to be careful.

It was time for a rainbow! Firestar held up his paw. Then Foxclaw did too. Goldenflower twirled over the meet the toms with one paw raised. And Ferncloud followed. Sky one-handedly (because his paw was raised) swung on a vine to meet the cats. No sooner had Sky dropped down to meet the cats with their paw raised then Crowfeather strutted to them and vainly raised his paw higher than all the others. They gathered in a circle.

A tiny brown she-cat sat on a high shelf of rock high above the others. She thought, 'Can I really do this? Am I ready?'. And Heatherpaw, the final rainbow cat, the one that represented the purple color of the majestic rainbow jumped.

And she jumped downward and landed right in the middle of the cats' circle. She stood on her hind legs and called "Clouds and sea, wish and dream, rainbow power is unleashed by the flowers!"

At that moment each cat's plant of power formed in each of the cats' paws. The flowers shot out red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet sparks. Those very same flowers became sheets of color that arched into the sky. Each Rainbow Cat held on to the sheet that was their color. They were lifted up and they glided through the air. They finally landed after a long time.

Firestar hopped of their rainbow ride and called out to the cats. "Line up! We must hurry! Go downward! Follow me!" When Firestar got to the end of the hill he motioned for the cats to stop. If the cats jumped down they would be smashed to bits. He was just inches away from a large hole. In fact, it was more of a pit than a hole. And in it was...

                                                                 ~*Chapter Three*~

... four dogs, three sheep, six Twolegs and one horse.

The seven Rainbow Cats couldn't fight off all these! And Heatherpaw was too small to face even a sheep. She'd get crushed! And poor Firestar was too weak. And Goldenflower would need to help the injured cats. And they wouldn't even be able to stun a dog with that few people!

What could they do? How could they stop FangClan from taking over the forest?

Suddenly, Heatherpaw wailed, "What's that noise?" and began to whimper. There was a noise coming from behind a tree. There was growling from behind it too. Heatherpaw burst into tears and ran away.

Out from behind it burst BirdClan! The friendly felines said, "So, who needs help?" But Darkstar growled "We are BirdClan and I am your leader. I think these,... cats deserve to know my secret-" "Where's Kindstar?!" Firestar mewed weakly, before  the elderly ginger leader half-fell, half-laid down again.

"Kindstar? What's kind star? Ohhh, do you mean our stupid kit, Kittypetkit?" chuckled Darkstar meanly. "Well, here Kittypetkit is." Darkstar thrust forward an elder older than Firestar.

"Wait!" cried Heatherpaw as she emerged. A BloodClan cat was beside her.

"I'm sorry! Don't! Kindeyes! Become leader! I'm sorry! DON'T!!!!" Darkstar flailed around like a crazy chicken.

When he had gone, Kindstar asked how she knew he was .Tigerclaw "It was easy to tell. Just look at his claws and pelt and you  just know," replied Heatherpaw.

Heatherpaw and Turtlepaw (Turtlepaw was from BirdClan.) jumped in and began to fight a dog. They fought two whole dogs, then scampered to the other side.

Goldenflower and Kindstar pulled Firestar in when there was only a horse left. But he didn't know how to avoid it.

                                                                                    ~*Chapter Four*~

Firestar felt a sudden burst of energy and speed as a plan formed into his head.

He climbed up the horse's tail, jumped onto its back and climbed up to the horse's head, while clinging to its mane franticly.  He jumped off and soared to the edge of the crevice.

He clawed his way up to the grassy clearing, then, heard, "HEATHERPAW'S GONE!"

An hour later, Firestar woke up, saw Crowfeather then fell asleep again.

Meanwhile, Crowfeather stood on his hind legs with Foxclaw and Sky behind him. They were trying to battle six vicious saber-toothed muscular cats. The largest one was Volebone, the FangClan deputy. Within moments, the saber-toothed FangClan warriors had cornered the three toms.

Volebone cried, "Now you are trapped, never to see your precious,...friend again." A brown cat was pushing, no, shoving his way through the crowd.  He sat down on a glittering rock, which Crowfeather recognized as the moonstone. Weird.  The moonstone hadn't been there before.  "I am Froststar," said the cat on top of the gleaming stone. "As you see, Heatherpaw is missing. More like trapped, I should say. Oh yes, you pitiful Rainbow Cats have been stripped from Heatherpaw." said the villainous cat as Crowfeather, Foxclaw, and Sky exchanged worried glances. "Yes, she and your precious little Firestar will make perfect bait for our war-" But the tom cats did not get to finish hearing Froststar as, out of the blue, jumped Goldenflower and Ferncloud, knocking over the wicked tabby tom. Froststar was momentarily stunned, and the remaining Rainbow Cats saw their chance.

Right through the tunnel was a flash of brown fur, just like Heatherpaw's.

                                                                            ~ * Chapter Five * ~

"Now's our chance!" whispered Sky. The cats raced into the tunnel as Froststar shook his head dizzily, then passed out. "Quiet as a mouse, must be quiet, quiet, quiet, as a mouse!" cried Foxclaw as they padded through the dim stone tunnel.

"SHH!!!" hissed Ferncloud noisily. "Oh, come off it, we're alone," replied Crowfeather, trying to track down poor Heatherpaw's scent while trying to track down Firestar's at the same time. They continued walking until they came to a huge boulder.

"Looks like our path is blocked by, by, this!" stuttered Foxclaw. "Are you okay, Foxclaw? You seem to be acting odd," inquired Goldenflower wearily after their long trek.

Suddenly Crowfeather started. "The tunnels... when WindClan was stealing prey... followed through secret passage..." murmured Crowfeather. Foxclaw looked puzzled. "What, what do you mean?" he meowed. "I mean that I've been in these tunnels before, when I was in WindClan!" cried Crowfeather bitterly.

" Um, guys, it looks like we're discovered," wavered Sky, as they all looked up to see Volebone and his nefarious comrades looming in front of them, grinning terribly with the points of their wickedly sharp fangs just poking out of their smiles, with Heatherpaw caged beside them and old Firestar limp in their paws; the metallic bolder behind them.

                                                                                         ~ * Chapter Six *~

Sky opened his mouth to let out a scream, but no sound came. Sky reddened. In front of him was a vicious cat who could tear them apart in seconds, but he didn't even run! But, then, he reminded himself that he was trapped.

He decided to let time fall away from his paws and let Volebone take him and his loyal friends away, as he dropped ever so slowly into the bottomless pit of emptying blackness of deep, dreamless sleep. Dreamless sleep.

As he fell away, the boulder in front of him began to crumble into nothing; flames licking the dusty stone floor as Volebone fled the dark tunnels, leaving the Rainbow Cats to get scorched in the tunnels of FangClan's medicine cat den.
